Computerised Gait Analysis Procedure

The following details the Computerised Gait Analysis Procedure

Gait analysis is used to assess, plan, and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. Gait analysis can help determine if your walking can be improved by treating your back, if your back can be improved by treating how you walk.

1. History

The therapist will discuss your problem with you prior to the foot scan and perform observation, palpation and functional assessments.

2. Scans Foot

As you walk across the pressure plate, thousands of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure of your foot over time.

3. Maps Foot Pressure

From your step, the computer displays 2D and 3D visual representation of the pressure under the foot. You can see where you have too much or too little pressure.

4. Prints Report

The information is then summarised in a report that can be printed for you and the therapist. The report findings will help to evaluate your foot function and determine if the pain you are experiencing is related to faulty foot function.

5. Determines need for Orthotic Therapy

The information from this report will assist your therapist to determine if you need orthotic therapy.

6. Data sent to laboratory

When it is determined that you will benefit from orthotic therapy your information is then sent securely to the Orthotic Group Laboratory. From there your custom made orthotics are manufactured specifically for you and your feet.
