Core Stability

  • The core muscles are the muscles underneath the superficial stomach muscles.
  • Research has shown that they should contract fractionally before the bigger muscles contract, which has the effect of stabilising the whole torso.
  • The effect of this is that there is a solid foundation for the gross movements of the body, which in turn, takes the pressure off the bigger muscle, which can then work more efficiently and for longer, without tiring as much.
  • The biggest mistake made in core strengthening, is that people do the various exercises without knowledge of the correct basic technique and they do exercises that are too difficult for them.

The Spring in your Step team will show you or your team the correct technique and will prescribe a tiered set of progressive exercises. This will result in less injuries and better performance.
